Hello and thank you for your interest in In Cahoots Residency! We look forward to reviewing your application.
In Cahoots Residency is designed for people who have prior experience in art and/or writing. A portfolio of 8-10 images of artwork (or 3 writing samples) is required for the application. You must be 18 years or older to apply. With a focus on community and inclusion, we welcome adult artists of all ethnicities, religions, ages, physical abilities, gender, financial status and educational backgrounds. For artists who choose to apply as a collaborative team, each artist should complete a separate entry form with all required information, and make a clear note on the application that you are applying as a team. At this time, we do not allow spouses, pets and children to attend with artist residents. Our programming may include specific dates for family sessions in the future.
Grant Applications are accepted twice a year. Four full grant awards are available each year: two for residencies taking place between January and June 2020 (deadline June 1, 2019) and two for residencies between July and December 2020 (deadline October 1, 2019). You must hold a BFA or equivalent to apply. Applicants only need to fill out one application form. Those who are not awarded grants will automatically be considered for a regular (non-grant) residency. No grant applications will be considered after the deadlines.
The Full Grant Residency is designed for artists for whom this residency experience would otherwise be out of reach financially. We especially welcome applications from emerging artists and writers with less than 10 years of experience in the field, recent students, those who are returning to art after another career, and adjunct teachers.
Applications are accepted twice a year: June 1 and October 1. Applications open 6 weeks before each deadline.
June 1, 2019 deadline: for residencies taking place from January to June of 2020. Application period is April 15- June 1.
October 1, 2019 deadline: for residencies taking place from July to December of 2020. Application period is August 15-October 1.
No grant applications will be considered after the deadlines in June and October.
There is a $25 application fee, payable upon completion of the form.
Notification of acceptance/denial will be sent out 4-6 weeks after the deadline. Your application will automatically be considered for the regular application if you are not awarded a grant.
Notes on deposit: If accepted, a 200 dollar holding deposit is due at the time of confirmation to hold your dates. If you choose to cancel or switch your residency session, this deposit will be forfeited. Upon arrival, this deposit will act as your security deposit and will be returned to you at the end of your residency stay, minus any damages.
