Hello and thank you for your interest in a grant at In Cahoots! This is the application form for the CBAA members Full Scholarship at In Cahoots Residency only. The jurors this year are Melissa Wagner-Lawler and Lo Smith (2023 CBAA grant recipient). We look forward to reviewing your application.

It is important to note that the CBAA residency grant is for the two-week residency session of June 25 to July 6, 2024; applicants cannot choose alternative dates.

If you are not a member of CBAA, you may join at www.collegebookart.org.

In Cahoots Residency is designed for people who have prior experience in art and/or writing. A portfolio of 8-10 images of artwork (or 1- 3 writing samples, a total of 10 pages or less) is required for the application. You must be 18 years or older to apply. With a focus on community and inclusion, we welcome adult artists of all ethnicities, religions, ages, physical abilities, gender, financial status and educational backgrounds. For artists who choose to apply as a collaborative team, each artist should complete a separate entry form with all required information, and make a clear note on the application that you are applying as a team.

CBAA Scholarship Applications are accepted once a year, in the fall. No grant applications will be considered after the deadline of November 30, 2023.

The CBAA full grant covers the entire residency fee, but does not cover travel, specific materials, or food. We welcome applications from all CBAA members: both regular members and student members. Applicants are considered on both merit and financial need.

Unfortunately, for this CBAA scholarship we do not allow spouses, pets and children to attend with artist residents.

There is a $25 application fee, payable upon completion of the form.

Notification of acceptance/denial will be sent out 6-8 weeks after the deadline.

Notes on deposit: If accepted, a 200 dollar holding deposit is due at the time of confirmation to hold your dates. If you choose to cancel or reschedule your residency session, this deposit will be forfeited. Upon arrival, this deposit will act as your security deposit and will be returned to you after the end of your residency stay, minus any damages or materials purchased from our re-sale supplies.

Notes on COVID-19: We are currently hosting socially distanced residencies. With individual housing, we have been able to stay masked and 6 feet apart in the studio spaces. We clean the shared spaces carefully and are vigilant about keeping social distance. If the pandemic lasts until your residency session and you are unable to attend, we will work with you to reschedule your session for a later date. The deposit will be credited towards a future session for one round of rescheduling. Unfortunately, the grant will be forfeited.
