About this print:
Viaje, a photogravure combining drawing with photography, is inspired by family history and envisioning my own Queer lineage with the past. My mother’s family emigrated from Catalonia in the 19th century to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Somewhere between the coastlines of Catalonia, the ports of San Juan and mainland America, in the watery depths of the sea lies a time continuum where identities and stories past and present blend freely in the water back and forth to become one…and with that, my own sense of self and this print emerged.
