About this print:
This print was made in a response to the massive bird die-off in the fall of 2020. Reasons for this are still being speculated, although it is likely due in part to the massive wildfires the West has experienced for the past few years, which greatly reduced the available food supply. The print is printed on paper that was handmade by the artist, and dyed with kakishibu. Kakishibu is a traditional dye originally developed in Japan, made from the juice of green persimmons. The persimmons used for the dye for this print were harvested on Nicky Yeager's property, and pressed by the artist. Kakishibu is a dye that naturally continues to darken over time; the color of the paper for this work will become richer and more intense over time.
